You are not a dollard! 5 things a student should do to become smart and intelligent

Most times, many students are referred to as dullard because of their poor performance in school, some of them are being criticized in school with the statement “you are so dull, I don’t think that you can make it” some teachers have been instrument of destruction in this aspect, most of them keep discouraging their students, calling them many names, and sometimes don’t give them listening ears.

However, most parents have also been an instrument of discouragement to their children, most times, they don’t give their child's attention to things relating to academics, some of them prefer their jobs to their children’s welfare, of which academics are included. Also, some parents don’t encourage their children in their academics. This keeps killing their children’s morale, making them think they are indeed a dullard.

Since some parents and teachers have been the worst nightmare to their children, making them feel inferior in matters relating to academics, a student can build up to him or herself even without the help of their parents. Below are five things students should do to become intelligent and smart in school.

1. FRIENDS

An adage which says “show me your friend and I will tell you who you are” this adage has said it all, you keep performing below expectations in school, you keep having very poor results, people keep laughing at your flaws, and this has always been your worst nightmare, and you are confused where your problem is coming from, here is a question for you, have you checked the friends you keep? Are they the type that involves in truancy? Do they always involve themselves in examination malpractice? if this is the type of friends you keep, then remember such friends aren’t good for you. Look for a circle that is serious-minded, friends that are always eager to study, friends that always burn the midnight candle, follow their steps, and see how you will improve in your academics.

2. STUDY HARD

Your poor performance in school is evidence that you don't study before exams. Also, there are a set of students who study before exams, but will still end up failing. Here is the reason.

Studying hard is not reading for an exam two weeks or one week before that exam, for a student to become outstanding in his or her class, he or she needs to study ahead of time, like one week after the resumption, also reading ahead of the teachers/lecturer. This would lessen the burden of cramming, rather would give effective understanding.

3. SELF-CONFIDENCE

No matter how a student has been criticized base on his poor performance in school, such students should neglect the criticism, rather he should believe in himself, be very confident about what he can do, then put it into practice. Such students will see themselves excelling.

4. SET A GOAL

Most times, students get encouraged once they remember what the future holds for them, they realize that for them to achieve what they have set ahead; they need to be diligent in their studies. Setting a goal is like a spirit that drives students to be very serious about their studies.

5. SAY NO TO PROCRASTINATION

Procrastination has been a disease in the life of our students. They procrastinate some certain things which will help them. As a student, if you feel like studying at any point in time, do it!! Never procrastinate to do it tomorrow, do it when you still have the time, because they said that time waits for no one.
